About Us

From Page One was founded in 2021 by Amanda Ascencio with an express mission to support, build, and grow the talents of under-represented authors. Specifically, those with debut novels, women and female-identifying folks, queer writers, and more. Amanda began her professional career in entertainment at Innovative Artists, a talent and literary agency in Los Angeles, working in on-camera talent representation and focusing on television and film contract negotiation. She later transitioned into a role at Wolf Kasteler Public Relations which continued her work with talent representation supporting client publicity efforts in film releases, awards campaigns, film festivals, and more. She joined mitú, a digital media production studio, and grew their television and film projects to over 100. During this time, she Executive Produced “Instant Crush,” the directorial debut of writer/director Chris Carmona, and worked to launch multiple series across Netflix, Facebook Watch, and other platforms. After 10+ years in the entertainment industry supporting film and television projects in various roles, Amanda turned her expertise in story craft, production, and publicity into a vehicle that supports author’s vision without compromise and aids in the distribution and marketing of developing authors.
“I doubt you came looking for an editor for your book who worked in film and tv. I bring a unique mix of skills and a diverse professional network to our working relationship. I want to provide as many tools, resources, and connections as I can to real, human authors. Now, more than ever before, is the time to support diversity in book publishing. While many companies are betting on AI, I want From Page One to bet on well-told stories.”
We are a small and growing team, but not lacking in passion. Our core values are rooted in positivity, acceptance, and love of all stories and those who tell them. We understand first-hand that sharing your writing and passion project can be a vulnerable experience. That’s why our ethos is to champion authors and be among your first cheerleaders whether you’re looking to begin a career as an author, or just self-publish that story you’ve been thinking about for years.
