Services
Page One offers developmental editing services for manuscripts at various stages of completion.
Substantial Developmental Edits
Complete developmental edits for your entire manuscript. You’ll receive a detailed letter on the overall strength of your story, structure analysis, global plot, character, subplots, theme, worldbuilding, marketability, and more. Your edits are crafted with detailed examples, charts, tables, and other tools to give you specific data and a workable plan to approach a revision. Our editorial feedback is frequently between 20-50 pages of deeply researched notes specific to your manuscript. We focus first on what areas of your book are the strongest so that those skills can inform ways to implement recommended solutions.
Throughout your edit process, we are available to consult by video, phone, and text for additional clarification, support, and working through plot issues in real time. Your cheerleader on demand!
The First 5 Chapters
If you would like a way to dip your toe into editing, or haven’t ever worked with an editor before, we offer this package to refine and polish the first 5 chapters of your work. You’ll receive an editorial letter that focuses primarily on the first act of your story, and its foundational worldbuilding, character impressions, readability, and marketability of your project.

Reading turnaround times range from 7-14 days.
Feedback will be delivered to you in a 2-10 page document that highlights your skills as a writer and the strengths of your manuscript while briefly touching on potential areas to improve prior to publication.
In-line manuscript comments can be included upon request.
Line-editing, copyediting, and proofreading are not included, however, we are happy to point out grammatical errors and typos.
Note: purchase of a Beta read slot confirms your position on our editorial calendar but is a preliminary confirmation subject to additional information. A follow-up email will be sent to you to confirm specific dates and commitments.
Page One is open to manuscripts for beta reading which gives you the opportunity to get professional editorial feedback at an affordable price.
